Informal Writing #1
Of course I had to make a script to automate the process of posting. I still
have to add some templating to increase the versatility of generating to HTML.
The script also should be broken down so I can update a post.
I figure the tone of these postings will go something like this:
Today I realize my computer skills are becoming inadequate again. Last time I
felt like this, I devoted a weekend and a lot of hours switching to Gentoo.
Everything is finally configured correctly and I've been enjoying it for half
a year now. So what will the big change be this time? - you ask. Well, it may
turn out like my last transition where I stripped my Debian install to
its bare bones, learned the tools and setup I would be using in Gentoo, and
switched when Debian broke itself... or perhaps I broke it, the details are
fuzzy.
What will the next iteration of operating system be? Since I have some time on
my hands and a backup server, I can take on Linux From Scratch using the trip
package manager. It's a neat little package manager that uses a unionfs to
tell what files a "make install" actually installs.
Now onto the boring stuff. Today I found a nice schedule for waking up. Track
A classes started at 8:05, Track B classes start at 9:35 and my shower slot
remains the same. This works out nicely as I found out... I can sleep another
hour after I shower. After that, take another half hour to eat and get
caffeinated followed by the bike to school. I still get some leeway before
class to print and generally dick around.
Yesterday, in this pre-class time at school, I was on the SCHEME computer in
the lab. I couldn't log in which was no big deal since my laptop is always on
me. So I was standing, drying off, with my laptop on the computer and a tech
guy comes in. Apparently the computer was just off the network, I looked
somewhat silly being the only person in the lab and unable to log on... at
least I got a chance to use lpr for some print jobs, it's one of the easiest
shell programs I've ever used. Of course the damn print system has to be set
up... so it evens out... more or less.
Great first post I'd say,
